Every human starts life with the same 23 chromosomes (give or take a Y), but they are only the first step in the creation of a person. This project will reflect that process.

PART 1

Each student will make a 23mm cube out of 22 gage titanium sheet. The finished cubes must be EXACTLY 23mm on each side and 90° at every corner. Welds have to be complete and edges/corners must be crisp. All surfaces will be finished to a flawless 400 grit texture. These will be evaluated out of 10 points on the quality of their craft and the precision with which they are fabricated. DUE at the beginning of class on JANUARY 22. We will be having a group discussion and assessment on the 22nd, so points will be deducted for late work.

PART 2

Students will then modify their cubes to create a unique wearable statement about identity. Surface embellishment, cutting and re-assembly, additions and appliqués, and any other technique or material are acceptable as long as they are appropriate to the concept in development.

These will be evaluated out of 10 points on the quality of their craft and their design/concept. DUE at the beginning of class on JANUARY 29. We will have a group critique on the 29th. Points will be deducted for late work.
